As a member of the American Tree Farm System, past and present management practices of the woodlands are visible throughout the property. Guests are informed that being a part of the Tree Farm System is more then just growing trees. An important element of the Tree Farm logo is recreation and education.
Opening the property and making it available to guests to enjoy and educating young and old about forestry techniques is an important part of tree farming. Maintaining roads, trails, controlling erosion, making maple syrup, wildlife management and habitat improvement, is also what it means to a be an American Tree Farmer. Cutting firewood for the numerous fireplaces. Using bluestone and timber cut from the property in construction of guest buildings is also considered a tree farm endeavor. American Tree Farming also means conserving our heritage and history and being a good steward for a beautiful piece of property for generations to come. Guests at Sylvania Tree Farm not only enjoy wonderful accommodations but leave with a better understanding of the history of this area and what it means to be a member of the American Tree Farm System.
