Step out the door of your cabin and you are on a private estate of over 1000 acres. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy the finest nature and hiking trails on the Upper Delaware River. Miles of groomed, marked trails lead you through woodlands, ridge tops and river shoreline. The property is exceptional whether your interest is bird and wildlife watching, wildflower identification, exercise, photography or simply finding some peace. It is the trails and setting at Sylvania that brings customers coming back year after year. The pictures you are viewing throughout the web site are all taken here on the property.

Use these trails on your mountain bike or in the winter bring your cross- country skis and snow shoes. Equestrians are welcome to bring their horse, stay and use the trails. Guests that would like to go horseback riding can make arrangements at local stables.

Guests can enjoy over a mile of private Delaware River frontage providing access to the river for swimming, boating and fishing. We maintain an area for our guests with picnic tables, lounge chairs and dock. Many returning customers bring their own kayaks, canoes and fishing equipment. View our link page for local outfitters and fishing guides. Several rafting and canoe outfitters along the river provide transportation and service.

At Sylvania there is trout fishing on the brook and along the Delaware River. The Mast Hope Brook runs for two miles through the property; the same stream celebrated by author Zane Grey in "Tales of Fresh Water Fishing." Explore our private trout stream and try your luck on the brook and brown trout. Catch and release only and barbless hooks on a dry-fly.

Where the Mast Hope Brook empties into the Delaware River, there is a deep eddy making for ideal fishing conditions. We maintain a stocked pond for young anglers as well. There is a fifty-acre lake on adjacent public lands that is great for largemouth and pan fish. A Pennsylvania fishing license is required and can be obtained locally or at www.state.pa.us If fishing on the Delaware River only, a New York fishing license is recognized on both sides of the river.

There are guests that arrive and never leave the property for their entire stay; but for those that like to visit some of the local restaurants, historical sites and nearby towns there is printed information, maps and brochures in every cottage. Directions will lead you to nearby towns and attractions. See our links page for local chambers of commerce that will list events, concerts and fairs.

Sylvania Tree Farm is ideal for the winter enthusiast. Our hiking trails are ideal for cross -country skiing and snowshoeing or hiking (bring your own equipment). Down hill skiing is available at our neighbor Big Bear Mountain (truly a five minute drive) or a forty-minute drive to Elk Mountain. Many guests return each season to photograph the winter scenery, relax by the fire and enjoy the peace and solitude of a “cabin in the woods.”

How does a hot air balloon ride sound for that special occasion? Or a canoe/raft trip down the Delaware River on a hot summer day? A guided fishing trip? How about a horse back ride on a cool autumn day? Antique shopping in our quaint nearby towns? How about a cooking class where you learn new techniques and then eat a great meal? How about a scenic train ride on the Stourbridge line. Enjoy a winter wonderland with down-hill skiing nearby or cross- country skiing right here. See our Link Page for ideas! Our local Chambers of Commerce are listed and will have up to date lists of events.
